Living off the Seasons
The Recreational Chef
Nathan L. Judice
Hi y’all!
I love to take advantage of Sportsman's Paradise. Hunting, fishing, and gardening: I can't think of a better place to enjoy the outdoors than Louisiana. Growing up in South Louisiana, I started hunting at 16 years old and have never looked back. It wasn't until 2018 when I started the journey of eating as locally as possible.

One afternoon as I was standing in the grocery store staring down at a sea of cellophane packages, a wave of questions rushed to my head: How many hands and machines have touched this meat to get it on these shelves? How many miles away was this meat harvested? How were these animals raised, and what was their diet?

These questions and loads others are what drove me to eating locally by utilizing the meat and fish that I catch and kill for everyday home meals for my family. These same questions also drove me to shop at and get involved with my local farmers market which has also become my family's Saturday morning tradition.

For years, I have served as a useful source to those seeking inspiration, help, or advice on cooking with locally harvested ingredients. I finally decided to own that role and be intentional about it. I started writing about my passions, my thoughts, and curious wonderings about our world. I founded Raised on Wild with a mission to give others a taste of what goes on in my mind!

Happy hunting and fishing,
